Joe Tkalcic

Multi-Family and Supportive Living Leader

Practicing architecture for over 23 years, Joe has been involved with more than 400 projects. Joe’s responsibilities as project and design architect range from feasibility studies, functional programming, and design and user group consultations through construction administration to final occupancy.

Joe’s specific experience involves cultural facilities, master planning, urban village design, multi-family residential projects and a large variety of commercial retail, industrial and hospitality developments. Joe has a significant breadth of experience with a multitude of multi-family residential building typologies ranging from independent living market, affordable housing, designated assisted living, congregate care; supportive living, memory care (dementia), hospice and respite care facilities. Joe has an intimate understanding of various seniors’ care living models and seniors’ needs in a living environment, including aging in place strategies and design. Joe’s encouragement of team synergies and attention to client needs has invariably led to built forms which exceed client expectations.

I strongly believe that even small projects can have a big impact – especially when designing for compassion and dignity. Beautiful design with a focus on wellbeing can help to strengthen the families and communities that our facilities serve.
